National Network for a New Political Economy
BESI is one of several interrelated centers in the United States funded by the Hewlett Foundation to tackle urgent aspects of the relationship between the economy, politics, and society. The U.S. initiative, in turn, is part of a seminal philanthropic collaboration between Hewlett, the Ford Foundation, the Omidyar Network, and Open Society Foundations that is seeding research in political economy at leading universities around the world.
